Kato's respect for denim reaches back decades. Years of experience and research resulted in their own version of the highly sought after denim of the 50s. Kato crafted this fabric with meticulous precision to replicate the uniform texture of the faded vintage denim collected for the archives.
Kato 4-WAY STRETCH SELVEDGE® has the fit, quality, and comfort that will earn the approval of even the most seasoned denim-heads. Woven on vintage shuttle looms at their Japanese Mill, this denim has the perfect amount of 360 movement and is more comfortable than any other selvedge jeans on the market. All Kato jeans are proudly made in America.
This specially washed denim is one of Kato's most evenly faded and broken in pairs of jeans. The beautiful texture of this Japanese selvedge denim is revealed through this washing process. These handcrafted Japanese jeans feature a selvedge ID on the coin pocket, chainstitched hems, YKK zipper fly and aged brass rivets.

Wear as long as possible before the first wash for high-contrast fades. Hand wash cold with minimal soap or mild detergent. If machine washing, turn inside out, wash separately, and use a light spin. Hang dry only. Do not use a dryer. Fresh indigo may bleed—avoid light-colored surfaces.
